Hello!!! Is there anybody there???
Now this would be the beginning of a song from Pink Floyd.
Yes I am a Pink Floyd Fanboy, Buttttttttt this was also part of the conversation I was having with a friend who was dozing off on one of the rides. Usually, people think of COMs or communication devices as a secondary accessory to use. Very weirdly getting less importance than cameras. I mean they would rather have recordings (VLogging) than keep a connection with fellow riders. In the olden days riders used and still use hand signs to give directions to fellow riders.
The key to any relationship whether its family or friends or riding bros is communication. Whether it’s having a laugh about the way some guy was sitting on his bike or you see a hazardous situation ahead of you and inform the Bros behind or when you are feeling hungry (Usually me). But the point here is the list goes on. Imagine you couldn’t communicate with your buddy riding behind and something happened. What’s even harder is to call his\her family to inform them of the mishap even if it isn’t that bad. I have been there.
The Sena 50S
The 50-series platform brings advancements in usability and clarity with Bluetooth 5.0 functionality and Mesh 2.0 connectivity. Not much is different from the 50R and 50S as but what the 50S does bring bak is the much loved Jog dials, for ease of use. Redesigned speakers deliver more volume from a smaller package for better in-helmet comfort. The 50S gives direct access to digital assistants when paired with a smartphone. This allows you to keep your hands on the bars -where they belong. “Hey Google, directions to the nearest gas station.” Speakers are a little better over the 50R having higher output for the smaller size. A fast charge battery gets you back out on the road quicker than with previous Sena models. Stop for lunch and a 20 minute charge buys you an extra 3.5 hours of mesh communication or 6 hours of Bluetooth intercom. An hour of charging brings the 50S all the way up to 100%, with 9 hours of mesh communication or 14 hours of Bluetooth intercom. The charging cable features trick WiFi integration that automatically updates the 50S with the latest firmware from Sena. The Sena 50R
The 50-series platform brings advancements in usability and clarity with Bluetooth 5.0 functionality and Mesh 2.0 connectivity. Lots of customers complaining about the 30k, now take a sigh of relief as Sena has heard the cries and put their heads down and improved on a lot of things. Redesigned speakers deliver more volume from a smaller package for better in-helmet comfort. Higher output speakers feature slanted edges for more comfort when riding as well as putting on and removing your helmet. The 50R gives direct access to digital assistants when paired with a smartphone. This allows you to keep your hands on the bars -where they belong. “Hey Google, directions to the nearest gas station.” Mesh 2.0 maintains a stronger connection between riders for better clarity and reduced connection times. You can create groups of up to 24 riders and organize groups of riders on different channels. Up to six riders can all chime in simultaneously instead of metaphorically passing the mic. A fast charge battery gets you back out on the road quicker than with previous Sena models. Stop for lunch and a 20 minute charge buys you an extra 3.5 hours of mesh communication or 6 hours of Bluetooth intercom. An hour of charging brings the 50R all the way up to 100%, with 8 hours of mesh communication or 13 hours of Bluetooth intercom. The charging cable features trick WiFi integration that automatically updates the 50R with the latest firmware from Sena. Any time Sena makes an update to the 50R software package, your 50R receives that update the very next time you charge it up in the presence of WiFi.
